布什到底错在哪里？

布什总统周二在接受美联网(CNN) Larry King Live 专访时仍然强调，作为三军统帅的美国总统， 保护美国公民不受攻击是其首要任务和职责。

从他的言论中我们不难发现，他对他自己为什么获得如此低的公众支持率仍然不以为然。换句话说，他仍然不知道他自己到底错在哪里。就在同一天，前里根总统的政治顾问，Ed Rollins, 在美联网上发表了一篇评论员文章。文章的题目是：布什仍然不知所以然（Bush still doesn’t get it）。

当局者迷而旁观者清。布什总统犯的错，并不是他自己认为的那样。下面才是他的真正过失。

第一，他偏重于安全而忽略民生。例如，他经常和军队在一起，而很少到受到灾难的民众中去。佛罗里达州在前几年连续遭受多次飓风袭击，他一次都没有到灾区看望受灾的群众。

第二，他过于自信而缺乏调和的能力。例如，在他执政下，国会两党出现明显的分化，以致许多重要的提案很难在国会顺利通过。

第三，他缺乏严肃的道德价值观而只顾特权阶层的利益。例如，他没有阻止他的父母亲参加前Enron 公司董事长，Ken Lay, 的葬礼。Ken Lay 是一个已经被认定在经济上犯了罪的人。 老布什夫妇参加他的葬礼，这明显的给世人一个讯号，既贪婪和不负责任是得到布什家族同情和支持的。从这以后，华尔街的不正之风越演越烈，最终导致如今的金融危机。

他的根本错误是他忘记了他是总统，除了国家安全外，国计民生才是最为重要的使命。而他一意孤行，脱离民意，最终导致国家走向衰落，民愤难平是情理之中的事。

What were the real mistakes Bush Made?

When interviewed by CNN’s Larry King Live on Tuesday, President Bush still insisted that preventing American people from another terrorist attack in the United States is the most important job of presidents of the country.

From his talk, it is not difficult to feel that he still doesn’t care about why he got so low approval rate in public. In another word, he doesn’t know what were the real mistakes he made during his presidency . On the same day, Ed Rollins, the former political director of President Reagan, wrote a commentary on CNN’s website. The topic of the commentary was: “Bush still doesn’t get it”.

The authority figure doesn’t get it, but the bystanders do. The real mistakes President Bush made were not as he admitted but the followings did.

First, he put too much effort on security of the country, but ignored the need of people’s daily life. For example, he frequently visited Army whereas seldom went to comfort people in the disaster areas in the country. In last few years, Florida State has suffered several hurricane damages. He never paid a visit to the people in the state for such a cause.

Second, he had too much confidence on himself, whereas he lacks the ability of coordination. For example, under his presidency, the two parties in the Congress were obviously divided. As a result, many important Legislations could not get passed smoothly.

Third, he didn’t have a serious moral standard and only took care of the interest of the privilege class. For example, he did not prevent his parents to attend the funeral of the former Enron’s chairman, Ken Lay. Ken Lay was a convicted criminal in economy. The attendance of his funeral by Bush Sr. clearly gave the people in the world a signal that the greedy and irresponsibility got the sympathy and support by Bush’s family. From that time on, the irrational storms on the Wall Street became worse and worse, and finally resulted in the financial crises we are facing right now.

His fundamental mistake was that he forgot he is the president of the country (not just Commander in Chief). Besides the security of the country, the economy and people’s life are the most important jobs he should take. But he just followed his own philosophy and ignored the common sense of the majority. Therefore, he caused the country to wrong direction. To this fact, it is reasonable that people got unhappy with him.
