MY SUGGESTION TO NOBLE PRIZE COMMITTEE

February is the deadline for the nomination of Noble Prize each year. Each qualified person and group submits the list of their nominees. Because I am not the qualified nominator, I can only provide the important information to the committee by giving my personal suggestion.

In my view, the Noble Peace Prize and Economic Prize should give to the Chinese government and all Chinese citizens.

The reason is: The one-child policy established by the Chinese government and Chinese citizens in last few decades played a key role in maintaining world peace, social stability and economic development of China. The Chinese government and citizens made their great sacrifice by doing so. As the history makes progress, all the people over the world will recognize the great contribution made by Chinese citizens in this area.

If the Chinese government did not establish the one-child policy, and if Chinese citizens did not follow the policy and just gave birth according to their own will, then the population of China would be 3-4 hundred millions more than it is actual today, that is almost one more American population.

If that is the case, the situation of China would be greatly different from the one of current China. The reason is very simple: the growth of a person is very costly. From economic view, any one before age 18 is a burden instead of a contribution factor. If the current population of China was 1.7 billions instead of 1.3 billions, then it would be impossible for the great achievement China has made today.

The one-child policy is a great contribution to the world peace. If without this policy, there would be too many people in China today. This will definitely yield great pressure on social system and cause the shortage of available natural and social resources. In order to obtain the limited resources, people must compete fiercely. This will result in social chaos, even possibly wars. Although wars can reduce population, it is cruel and inhumane. Therefore, it is very intelligent and humane in reducing population by controlling the birth rate. This is a great creative way in human cultivation by the Chinese government. It should be noticed by all the human beings with a just mind and become the permanent history record of the world.

Controlling birth rate is also the best choice from economic view. As stated above, to raise a person is very costly. Human is the greatest consumer of natural resource. Therefore, it is obvious that the more people, the greater competition for natural resources. With the limitation of natural resource, more people mean less available resource for each person. Hence, the quality of life will be in low grade.

Let me use a simple example here to explain this. Because the income of one given family is a certain amount, if there is only one kid, that amount of income will be divided by three persons (father, mother, and one kid); if there are two kids, then that income will be divided by four; three kids, each member of the family gets one fifth of the income, and so on. It is obvious that more kids, less shares of the income for each family member. Hence, more kids would degrade the life quality of the whole family.

Today, one of the biggest problem the world faces is fast increase of population. This has already created the great pressure for the international community. If this trend continues, the natural resources of the earth may be shortage in near future. Human being will desperately compete for the limited resources. Therefore, wars may be inevitable in the future.

In short, by controlling the birth rate is the best way to maintain world peace. It is also the best way for economic development. It is a responsible way to deal with world issue. It is the best choice of human being for achieving a harmonic development. In this case, the Chinese government and citizens set a good sample for the whole world and made their greatest contribution. Of course, their sacrifice in this area is incalculable.

Therefore, I strongly suggest that these qualified nominators should nominate the Chinese government and citizens for the Peace and Economic Prize for 2010 and that the Noble Prize committee should consider this suggestion. In this way, it will show the world that the great contribution to world peace and economic development by controlling birth rate is justly awarded.
